Every other week, Gamasutra examines the fastest-growing Facebook games according to monthly active users, looking at which titles and developers are having the most success attracting new players on the social network.

Much of the attention for fast-growing and popular social games has been on Zynga's The Ville lately, for both good and bad reasons, but there's another title that's had some major growth in recent months: FreshPlanet's SongPop.

Like Draw Something, SongPop is not really a game on Facebook, and is actually an app that interacts with the popular iOS and mobile editions. Also like Draw Something, it's a popular title with broad appeal , and is pulling in a lot of users.

SongPop, which challenges players to identify popular songs, is already the ninth most popular "game" on Facebook with 15.8 million monthly users, 1.2 million of them coming in just the last week.

Other recently popular games on Facebook that are also relatively new include Social Point's Dragon City (600,000 new players), Zynga's Ruby Blast (400,000 new players), and Electronic Arts' SimCity Social (300,000 new players).

The fastest-growing game of the week, though, is still The Ville, which is also the biggest game on Facebook with 60.6 million users. In just the last week, The Ville added almost 6 million users to its count.

The full list of the top 20 fastest growing Facebook games along with exact monthly active user counts, are as follows:
