Newsbrief: Konami has unveiled the latest in the Metal Gear Solid series at a Metal Gear 25 year anniversary event, and it's something a little bit different from your usual Metal Gear release.
Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is set to be an open-world take on the Metal Gear saga, built using Kojima Productions' Fox Engine, and targeting Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, according to a Famitsu article, as translated by Andriasang.
In addition, Konami revealed Metal Gear Solid: Social Ops, a new Unity-based smartphone title that will debut on GREE's mobile game network.
A Hollywood movie conversion of the Metal Gear series was also announced, which will be released through Columbia Pictures. Producer Avi Arad is the lead on the project.

An open-world MGS game? Count me in! Although I'm used to the more linear previous games, this could be huge. Sometimes all I want to do is hone my stealth skills, and this would be a great way to do it. It will be very interesting to see this major transition.
