The last remaining Playfish co-founder has left EA

Electronic Arts-owned social games company Playfish this week lost its last remaining co-founder, as Kristian Segerstrale has moved back into the world of start-ups.

EA acquired Playfish back in 2009, and since then the four original founders of Playfish -- Sebastien de Halleux, Sami Lababidi, Shukri Shammas and Segerstrale -- have left one-by-one to found new start-ups.

Segerstrale was EA's EVP of digital content, and was one of the key figures leading the company's digital market push.

As part of an internal EA memo, and as reported by TechCrunch, EA's CEO John Riccitiello noted that with Segerstrale's departure, the company will now consolidate its digital publishing, marketing and Origin group avenues, with the entirety of EA Digital now reporting to COO Peter Moore.

"With the move of the EA Digital teams under Peter's direction, he will now have responsibility for all of EA’s revenues globally - packaged goods and digital," noted Riccitiello.

The company hopes that bringing all of its digital components together will make for a greater focus on digital revenue acceleration.
