King comes out on top in cloning case

King comes out on top in cloning case

September 17, 2014 | By Christian Nutt

King has announced that it has reached a settlement with 6waves that will see the Hong Kong-based company permanently withdrawing its games Farm Epic and Treasure Epic from sale and making a payment to King "accounting for a significant amount of their revenues and our legal fees," according to King's press release.

King originally filed suit against 6waves over the games last year, alleging that they infringe the copyrights of Farm Heroes Saga and Pet Rescue Saga; in April, the courts said the case could go ahead.

This isn't the first time 6waves has been accused of cloning. Triple Town developer Spry Fox also sued the studio over its game, Yeti Town. The two parties settled that case as well, with Spry Fox gaining ownership of the Yeti Town IP.
