Certifications are common in the enterprise tech industry, but in game development... less so. But today at GDC, the engine provider announced a Unity certification program under which developers can study and become ceritifed by the company in their expertise in using the game engine.
The company is offering its first certifications at GDC, and will begin to offer them at its global Unite conference series in the future.
"Get a credential, to be able to take it and go out and show proof of the skills that you've learned in the industry with Unity," said Megan Stewart, the company's Head of Global Education, on stage at the company's GDC event this morning.
Eventually, the company will be offering Unity Certified Developer Courseware and certification testing online -- plans are to launch the online tests and courseware, for a fee, this spring. Unity certification will have a regular cost of $250.
For now, you can find out more information at the Unity certification site.
