Vicious Engine 2 To Add Wii, PSP, PS2 Support

Vicious Cycle Software says it's set to expand its Vicious Engine 2 with the addition of Wii, PSP and PlayStation 2 support to its existing Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 support.

"We have invested heavily in new tools and pipelines specifically for Ve2, and believe it is imperative that developers are able to leverage these improvements," says Vicious Cycle VP and CTO Wayne Harvey.

Late last year, Quebec-based casual game developer Frima Studio revealed its upcoming PSP Mini strategy game Zombie Tycoon is being built on the Vicious Engine, making it the first Mini title to use the tech. That announcement came just a month after Vicious Cycle signed a deal with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe to make its middleware available to PSP Minis developers.

Vicious Engine is designed as a portable engine for game development on personal computers, consoles, and handheld systems. It's been used in parent company D3Publisher's titles, like Dead Head Fred and Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords; version 2 launched in early 2009 and made its debut in Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard.
