Quantic Dream's PlayStation 3-exclusive Heavy Rain debuted at number six in Japan last week, while Capcom's Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition for PS3 came out at the top of the charts, according to Media Create.

For the week ended February 21, Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition sold 143,000 units, knocking down Namco Bandai's God Eater from the top spot. Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition is a re-release of the March 5 original, with added content such as new costumes for characters.

Heavy Rain, developed by Paris-based Quantic Dream, generated sales of 27,000 units during the period. Billed as an "interactive drama" by Sony, the adult-themed game falls outside of typical action, RPG, and adventure genres.

Konami's Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s World Championship 2010: Reverse of Arcadia was another new game made Media Create's top 10 list for the week. Games falling out of the top 10 from last week were Konami's The Prince of Tennis: Motto Gakuensai no Oujisama - More Sweet Edition and Quiz Magic Academy DS: Futatsu no Jikku Koku, Nintendo's Zangeki no REGINLEIV, and Spike's Sacred 2.
