Investors have put $3.5 million into, a new game broadcasting platform that aims to provide viewers with tools to watch a live competitive game match in 3D and reposition their viewpoint inside the game at will.

What's intriguing here, for game developers, is not so much the money has raised as it is the technology plans to funnel that funding into.

The tech reportedly works without direct dev involvement; instead, the app (on both PC and mobile) captures a game's 3D spatial data as a broadcaster is playing and reconstructs it for viewers, allowing them to basically move their free-floating camera around within a given game level or world.

The platform is also being designed to support the typical array of game broadcasting features (think: replays, clip creation, etc), as well as support for virtual reality headsets like the HTC Vive. The app is currently freely available, though the current beta build lacks VR compatibility and only supports Counter-Strike: GO and League of Legends
