Monster Hunter Frontier Online For Xbox 360 Leads In Japan

Capcom's MMORPG Monster Hunter Frontier Online for Xbox 360 topped a weekly top 10 Japanese console game sales list that included a total of seven new entries, Media Create said Thursday.

For the week ended June 27, Monster Hunter Frontier Online sold 93,000 units. The game is the latest installment of Capcom's Monster Hunter role-playing game franchise, and unlike other entries, is an MMORPG. The game previously released in Japan for Windows PCs in June 2007.

Monster Hunter Frontier Online was one of seven new titles in the top 10 for the week. Konami's Love Plus + and Tokimeki Memorial: Girl's Side 3rd Story, Gust's Atelier Totori: Alchemist of Arland 2, Sega's Hatsune Miku: Project Diva (Dekkai Ohaidoku-han / Ohaidoku-han), Aqua Plus' White Album: Tsuzurareru Fuyu no Omoide and Asgard's Starry * Sky: In Spring - PSP Edition also debuted at retail this week and cracked the top 10.

Last week's leader, Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. Galaxy 2 for Wii, dropped to number five. It has reached number one three times since its launch on May 27 in Japan.

Games to drop out of the top 10 from last week include Nintendo's Wii title Xenoblade, the PlayStation 3 version of Take-Two's Grand Theft Auto IV: Episodes from Liberty City, Bandai Namco's DS game Tamagotchi no Pichi Pichi Omisecchi, the PS3 and PSP versions of Konami's World Soccer Winning Eleven 2010: Blue Samurai Challenge, Nintendo's DS title Tomodachi Collection and Idea Factory's game, Hakuoki: Junsouroku for PS3.
