Pokemon Co. took the top spot in the Japanese software sales chart this week, with the debut of Battle & Get! Pokemon Typing DS on Nintendo DS.

According to numbers released by tracking firm Media Create (as translated on the NeoGAF forums), last week's robot battler Dai-2-Ji Super Robot Wars Z: Hakai-hen dropped down from first to third place with 44,973 sales, while the Pokemon Typing game sold 59,363 units.

PSP and PlayStation 3 title Pro Baseball Spirits 2011 continued to sell well, dropping only a couple of places to fourth and fifth for the respective platforms.

Square Enix's Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 - Professional jumped up a place, selling 45,397 units to reach second place, but down 47 percent in sales from last week.

Meanwhile, the chart also saw several other new entries, including SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs 4, which only managed to sell 12,613 units, and Otomedius X from Konami, which jumped in at number 10 with 10,502 sales.

Other new additions also include Hudson's Original Story from Fairy Tail: Gekitotsu! Kardia Daiseidou, Prototype's Clannad and Bandai Namco's Detective Conan: Aoki Houseki no Rinbukyoku.

Media Create's complete top 20 sales chart, covering boxed console games sold in Japan from April 18 through April 24, follows.

Gamifying learning is awesome. I wish games were incorporated in the 90's in my High School typing class...it was brutally boring. Not to mention the class was in High School. Kid's these days are on the computer before they can even talk.

So does the game come with a keyboard that you hook up to your DS or something?

Yeah, I looked up the game on play-asia (http://www.play-asia.com/Battle_Get_Pokemon_Typing_DS/paOS-13-71-9g-49-e n-70-46h
5.html) and it comes with a DS keyboard accessory.
