Nintendo has revealed the top-selling video games in the U.S., Europe and Japan between January and September of 2011 as part of its Semi-Annual Financial Results Briefing.

The company released a series of top 20 charts, with data compiled from research firms MediaCreate, Gfk International and NPD, highlighting all releases for its Wii, DS and 3DS consoles.

In the U.S., Ubisoft's Just Dance 2 for Nintendo Wii was the top-selling game during the nine month period, followed by Pokemon White Version for Nintendo DS and Gears of War 3 for Xbox 360.

It's worth noting that, while this particular chart is single SKU results, the NPD now supplies multi-SKU.

The PS3 version of EA's FIFA 12 topped the European chart, which took into account a total of 14 European countries, including the UK, Germany and France.

Three Nintendo titles followed in positions two to four -- Wii Sports Resort, Pokemon White Version and Pokemon Black Version.

The Japanese chart was topped by Monster Hunter Portable 3rd for PSP, followed by Tales of Xillia for PS3 and Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 Professional.

The charts in full, originally found as part of Nintendo's Semi-Annual Financial Results Briefing, can be found below.

Summary: even without any new Wii Software, a horribly failed launch of a new handheld generation and despite the slow demise of their six year old handheld, Nintendo still had more titles in the Top 20 around the globe, then any other publisher.

I don't know, there are a lot of stories in these charts.

Like:

- In Japan there are two 3DS titles listed, but none anywhere else.

- In Europe & Japan there are 4 & 5 titles, respectively, made by Nintendo on the charts, in the US, just one, at #20 (which speaks to the point Iwata made about last year's titles not selling)

- Dance & Fitness games are doing really well in Europe & America, but are unrepresented in Japan.

There are lots more you can see in trends here, lots of interesting stuff I think.
