Notch clears the air on rumored Psychonauts revival
February 15, 2012 | By Tom Curtis

Newsbrief: Ever since Mojang's Markus "Notch" Persson expressed interest in funding a sequel to Double Fine's cult hit Psychonauts, online communities have run rampant with rumors and excitement. Today, Persson helped clarify the situation on his personal blog.

He explained that so far, he has not spoken much with Double Fine lead Tim Schafer, and added that the budget for a Psychonauts sequel is actually three times his initial impression.

Despite the unexpectedly high sum, Persson confirmed that he -- along with "a couple of other parties" -- would still like to invest in such a project, though nothing has been decided at this time.

Currently, Double Fine has its hands full with its startlingly successful Kickstarter project, which has earned more than $1.8 million at the time of this writing.
