MEDIA RELEASE
Melbourne - December 12, 2012 - More gamers than ever before
have participated in the
2012 Indie of the Year
Awards, with over 34,000 nominations deciding the top 100.
Only a few votes separate the leaders which includes indie
darlings such as
Natural Selection 2,
Chivalry,
FTL,
Hotline Miami and also a few
surprises such as the upcoming
Path of Exile and the
incredibly popular
Transformice.
Scott Reismanis, the Founder of IndieDB, commented
"It's been amazing watching previous years records get smashed
- as more and more gamers find themselves playing independent
titles. It will be quite interesting to see who comes out on top
(and joins previous winners Minecraft and Terraria) now that the
prestigious top 100 has been released."
Players can now view and vote on the
top 100 independent games for
a final 10 days, which will decide the ultimate winner.
We are also running our
2012 Mod of the Year Awards,
which due to some of the biggest mod releases ever (
Black Mesa,
DayZ,
Cry of Fear) over 71,000 votes have been logged.
The
top 100 mods can be viewed
and voted also for a final 10 days.
On December 20th voting will close, with the players choice
winners to be showcased daily until January 1st 2013.
