Brighton, England, January 23, 2014: VG247.com, part of Gamer Network and Britain’s first and only 24-hour games news site, went live with its latest design today.

The relaunch will help VG247 build on record traffic in 2013 and has been crafted through careful consultation with its readers, the industry and the Gamer Network team.

VG247’s new “Breaking News” functionality allows the editorial team to get gaming news onto readers’ desktops and mobile devices faster than ever before; a dedicated guides section means readers have access to the best information on today’s biggest games; a seven-day “Ticker” provides barebones reading for those looking for no-frills information; and a new, responsive design makes the 1,300 articles VG247 publishes a month easier to find on all devices.

The new look also features a host of new commercial opportunities for advertisers and partners.

The relaunch is the second stage of VG247’s 2014 growth plan, coming after the New Year announcement of Matt Martin’s appointment as editor after a lengthy tenure on GamesIndustry.biz.

Enhancements to VG247’s community suite are planned for the near-future.

Editor Matt Martin said: “This isn’t a vanity project for VG247: this is a redesign that emphasises our strengths as we continue pushing into 2014.

“As our remit expands beyond fast news and quality features into regular video and broadcast content, we needed the site to evolve with us. The redesign is build around our core values and will allow our most heavily-trafficked items to reach wider audiences.”

Publisher Patrick Garratt added: “VG247’s latest design is its best yet, taking us beyond the blog to fully embrace Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and guides. I’m extremely impressed with the efforts of the Gamer Network team and look forward to continued success based on this full revamp.

“We are confident the new design, new-look staff structure and editorial enhancements will allow us to build significantly on record traffic in 2014.”

VG247 recorded an all-time traffic high in November 2013 of 3.1 million unique users and 7.6 million page views.

VG247 launched in February 2008, and provides round-the-clock games news reporting from editors in the UK, America, Australia and France.
