LONDON / MADISON, WIS, November 22, 2011 - The
clock is ticking… Only 48 hrs left to help provide
homeless children and families with a Thanks-Giving
dinner. Following the success of September's 'Food For Good'
campaign, PerBlue and PlayMob have partnered again for the
'Give Thanks' campaign this month benefiting non-profit
organization, HELP USA.
With Thanksgiving Day fast approaching, players of the popular
massively multi-player online role playing game (MMORPG)
Parallel Kingdom have only 2 days left to purchase their choice
of Food Basket Hats, an avatar enhancement, with Food, a
purchasable and tradable in-game commodity. Each Food Basket
Hat purchase will result in a cash donation to help
combat homelessness and hunger in the United States.
Parallel Kingdom players can choose from two limited edition
Food Basket Hats to participate in the 'Give Thanks' campaign.
The red Food Basket Hat can be purchased for 750 Food and
will provide a Thanksgiving meal to one homeless child. The
golden Food Basket Hat can be purchased for 6,000 Food and
will provide a Thanksgiving meal to an entire family in
need. PerBlue is leading the way among game development
companies in the virtual giving sector. “The bar was set
high through the first 'Food for Good' campaign. Parallel Kingdom
players have proven to be philanthropic and eager to make a
difference,” said Justin Beck, CEO and Cofounder of
PerBlue. “In that effort, players raised over $4,500 and
helped send 2,508 meal vouchers to the SOS Children's Kenyan
famine appeal.”
“The game offers a simple and straight-forward opportunity
to do good,” added Beck. “Though we are a small
business, we understand that -- with our players behind us -- we
can provide a significant amount of help for families facing
hunger during the holiday season. We hope other companies can
see how easy it can be to take action and consider how they can
make an impact for social good.”
The 'Give Thanks' campaign, powered by PlayMob's Giverboard,
benefits HelpsUSA, a nonprofit organization that provides
housing and supportive services for the homeless and people
in need across America. Since 2009, HELP USA has been breaking
the cycle of dependency by addressing the underlying causes of
homelessness with respect and dignity. Through the development
of quality housing with on-site support services, HELP USA provides
resources for its residents, encouraging independence and
self-sufficiency.
