All of this feels a bit dishonest and manipulative to me. The outrage against the fund may be a little harsh, but I don 't think this is a good way to run a campaign. Good effort though.

You make some excellent points here, especially about grinding. Many of the roguelikes I 've played seem to expect you to grind and I think that is poor design. Something like item orthogonality can go a long way in preventing grindy games. Cool stuff man
