Many thanks for sharing your ...

Many thanks for sharing your numbers I really appreciate when people are willing to lend some transparency to the costs, choices, and results of projects

Comment In: EA backs off from Facebook in a big way [News - 04/15/2013 - 08:55]

My guess is simply that ...

My guess is simply that the profitability on these sorts of games is tanking as the market has been direly mistreated and polluted. What 's worse, is that since many of these users were not gamers before exposure to the F2P social environment, the experience will sour them on gaming ...

Comment In: Ask Gamasutra: What GDC 2013 meant to us [News - 04/02/2013 - 03:38]

I 'd love to see ...

I 'd love to see more attention/acknowledgement of competitive gaming but I think the main problem is just that it remains a very small field. More importantly, I don 't think you can easily predict that you 'll be hitting the level of success that makes it a real possibility ...

Comment In: Kongregate's 6 habits for keeping F2P players playing (and paying!) [News - 03/26/2013 - 06:41]

Thanks for the info on ...

Thanks for the info on your percentages. I 'm not surprised, just a little sad to hear it since I really dislike the psuedo-F2P model that seems to prevelant in the industry right now. Clearly we all need to be paid for our work, but I hate being held hostage ...

Comment In: Ken Levine's justification for BioShock Infinite's crunch [News - 03/11/2013 - 06:53]

Nothing new here. Someone misguesses ...

Nothing new here. Someone misguesses the required work and tells everyone to work more to try to make up for it. I 'm sorry you botched your schedule estimates. There 's nothing special about BioShock Infinite that changes this.

Comment In: How Valve hires, how it fires, and how much it pays [News - 02/25/2013 - 06:07]

Sounds both interesting and potentially ...

Sounds both interesting and potentially problematic at the same time. My guess is that personal charisma can drive a lot, allowing you to accomplish great things as long as you can make other people believe. But the side effect, is that it also becomes very easy to slip into politics, ...

Seems like they are pretty ...

Seems like they are pretty out of touch with the current market. r n r nAs a consumer, I buy a console to unlock game options I wouldn 't have on my existing hardware. In other words, when I 've got enough spare money, I 'll sacrifice that 300 or ...

Comment In: What are video game previews for? [News - 02/19/2013 - 04:16]

I think it largely doesn ...

I think it largely doesn 't matter if you do though. At such an early stage, even glaring holes can be addressed, and even the best laid plans and hopes can still flop to bad execution. So no early preview review, either good or bad, carries much in the way ...

Comment In: 'Kickstarter is starting to wear itself out. It’s a numbers game.' [News - 02/14/2013 - 01:48]

Agreed. He wanted a lot ...

Agreed. He wanted a lot of money for a project that just didn 't look that sexy. I think the mistake is in thinking you can simply fund full large games this way. Getting millions for your game idea is a fluke, not a reliable occurance.
